NHL, Air Force Academy release joint statement on issues at Stadium Series event
Multiple efforts were made by the NHL and Air Force Academy to warn attendees about potential traffic delays getting to the sold out Stadium Series game (Saturday). In addition to website and social media posts, and signage along the I-25 corridor in the week leading up to the game, the NHL alerted the more than 43,000 fans who had purchased tickets about the need to allow plenty of time in travelling to Falcon Stadium on game day. As well, in the week leading up to the game, the NHL through numerous media interviews reminded fans about the need to plan their travel based on anticipated delays.
To mitigate the anticipated traffic congestion, the Academy opened at 5:30 a.m. and eliminated vehicle ID checks at 12:30pm – five and half hours before the game. We thank the many fans who took advantage of that window to arrive well in advance and enjoy the Fan Fest activities that started at 1 pm. Because of this early planning, the vast majority of fans were able to get to the stadium prior to the puck drop and had an amazing experience at the game.
Unfortunately, several factors the day of the game came together to cause even greater than expected traffic delays. Unlike many large sports venues, all traffic into the two gates at the Air Force Academy comes from one interstate. In the hours leading up to the game, there were numerous road condition changes and unforeseen events including multiple lane closures in both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-25, emergency pothole repairs that forced further lane closures, and multiple vehicle accidents between Castle Rock and Monument. Despite our best efforts, all of these, added to the already challenging traffic conditions along the I-25 corridor, combined and unfortunately impacted some fans travelling to the game.
At the conclusion of the game, as we were routing traffic off base, there was a tragic incident at our North Gate that resulted in the death of one of our guests. Outbound traffic was immediately diverted to allow for emergency response crews and investigators to arrive on scene. While the details of that incident are still under investigation, we are devastated by the event and send the deepest condolences to his loved ones. We thank all of the crews who worked to clear traffic from the base despite only having one gate and we appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone impacted.
While we regret the unfortunate circumstances experienced by some fans, a near capacity crowd was in their seats at the start of an exciting night of hockey. We appreciate the efforts of fans who planned ahead and arrived early and most were able to enjoy a fantastic evening with multiple flyovers and musical performances that highlighted the competitive spirit of the NHL, the history and culture of the Academy, and the milestone achievements of USA Hockey.
The Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting the man fell to his death from a bridge just west of the academy's north gate at about 11 p.m Saturday night. Many spectators report parking some distance away from the event and walking the rest of the way in an attempt to get out of traffic that wasn't moving at all.

Heard that the Stadium Series game was just a mess from the Spittin Chiclets podcast. Sounded like terrible logistics to get people in and then keep the food and beer rolling. Like half the concessions booths were not running. Dirt parking area that got bogged in. Couldn't check people in for over 2 hours. A mess. The SJ one was a little dicey but nothing like this.

Kings trade Tyler Toffoli to the Canucks for a conditional 2nd round pick, Tim Schaller, and Tyler Madden. Deano moving pieces. Where's Dougie I believe the GM of the Kings is Rob Blake, Deano got fired after he fired D.Sutter. But Deano has 2 Rings, Wilson is still trying to figure out how to build a team

(Feb. 18, 2020) – St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester issued the following statement this morning.
“I would sincerely like to thank all of the trainers from both the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks, as well as all of the first responders, the Anaheim medical staff and the team at the UCI Medical Center for their quick actions on Feb. 11. Our family has felt the support of the entire National Hockey League family and the city of St. Louis during this time. We have all been greatly comforted by your genuine concern. On Sunday evening, I returned to St. Louis and I am on the road to recovery. My wife and daughters are forever grateful for everyone’s support and we will continue to have a positive outlook for our future.“

Heard he just went to the Caps for a 2nd and 3rd round picks Yeah he knew this was coming. Really a shame as he is one of the few guys you would want to keep.

Heard he just went to the Caps for a 2nd and 3rd round picks Yeah he knew this was coming. Really a shame as he is one of the few guys you would want to keep. I was just thinking about him being traded while watching the Florida game. Two years ago, Dillon was a steady 4/5 D’man on a really good team. Now, he’s probably the Sharks best D’man. I personally think that is partially due to how bad the overall Sharks D has become, but also due to some solid improvement on his part. I wish him well in DC.

Los Angeles Kings defenceman Alec Martinez will be a healthy scratch tonight.
The Kings are working on sending Martinez to the Vegas Golden Knights and the return is expected to be ~2 second round picks, per Bob McKenzie.

MONTREAL - The Canadiens announced on Tuesday that they've acquired a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2021 from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Marco Scandella.
Scandella, 29, was acquired by the Canadiens from Buffalo on January 2 in return for a fourth-round pick in 2020. The Montreal native played 20 games for the Habs, recording three points (1G, 2A).
The 6-foot-3, 212-pound rearguard is a veteran of 569 NHL contests with the Minnesota Wild, Sabres, and Canadiens. He has 136 career points (42G, 94A) over 10 seasons in the League.
Scandella was Minnesota's second-round pick (55th overall) in 2008.

Ok. Got it!

DW is full of shit. That is not why you make any trade. You trade an asset to get as much as you can in return.

I knew Dillon would most likely go for picks but it does sting knowing he's one of the better assets to build around and we are taking potential late round picks, none in round 1. I gst that and can accept that. Retaining 50% salary is fucking atrocious.
