Agree. I was curious to see this as a comp. Martinez is a bit higher on a depth chart than Dillon but to a division rival and still grabbing 2 2nd round picks. Though I assume this is in sequential years and Dougie probably wanted as much for this June as possible. This year's draft is supposed to be a very deep one, we need as many picks as possible! It doesn't matter how many picks the Sharks will have DOUGIE JUNIOR Will Screw it up

Bruce Boudreau is one of hockey’s most charismatic characters, and the former Minnesota Wild head coach provided an unusually candid account into his recent dismissal. Boudreau served as the Wild’s head coach from 2016-17 onward but was fired on Feb. 14. The former Jack Adams Award winner spoke to The Athletic’s Michael Russo for a lengthy profile that detailed his firing, where Boudreau revealed he was caught off guard by Wild general manager Bill Guerin on Saturday. “It was funny because Bill came in and he shut the door, and as soon as he shut the door, I knew,” Boudreau said. “You just know, right? And he says, ‘I’m going to make a change,’ and I instantly said, ‘Are you firing me?!’ — just like that. “And he goes, ‘Yes.’ I said, ‘Are you f—ing kidding me?’” Wilson will probably hire Boudreau as the next coach He likes yes men who bow to the tanned 1 We need grit! Either get that Clown Gallant or Laviolette!

But they will step on the tanned 1 toes & the tan 1 has a big ego. Could you imagine with he hired Gallant & the Sharks won the cup. It will show from his past coach hiring's that Wilson doesn't know what he's doing. Also the Sharks would have to toughen up(The players) so they don't get BUTT Hurt when Gallant or whoever yells at them for screw ups on the ice, Like Burns,Marleau & even Thornton(If the latter 2 are here next year)

When was the last time the Sharks were sellers at the trade deadline? The Year we traded Nolan to the Leafs? I don't remember who we even got back in that trade, Allan McCauley?

Unless and until EK65 becomes the defenseman he was 4/5 years ago the resigning will be DW’s legacy failure. And every day that passes by with Karlsson’s performance continuing to lag behind his gaudy price tag the more damning it looks. I think the biggest miss was expecting even with EK65 back to his norm from 5 years ago, that holding him, Burns and Pickles down would be the best strategy. Rather than picking 2 of 3 that seem to be the best bet and reallocating the 3rd to help elsewhere. Regardless of him completely fucking the call on EK65's contribution level, he also made a strategic blunder on cap allocation. Even with EK65 of 5 years ago I suspect Jones + the missing forward slots still hamstrings this team from any meaningful success. This would be the best bet if it could come to fruition. Either EK or Pickles needs to be moved to get some cap relief/ balance on the back-end. Then the Goalie situation needs to be resolved with the cap relief+trade or? From what I read (what ever that is worth lol) feb-march is time frame EK is supposed to be back to 100% with the groin (maybe it was EK's agent that wrote the article lol). But with the no trade clause, next season EK has zero excuses to suck ass. Pretty much only silver lining to this season... Ferraro, but next season is going to be the dreaded sophomore season.

The Winnipeg Jets Are Trying To Move Dustin Byfuglien
from Frank Seravalli of TSN,
Another day, another twist in the saga.
Turns out, the Winnipeg Jets have waited to pull the trigger on a mutual contract termination with because multiple sources say the Jets are attempting to exhaust all trade options for the hulking defenceman.
After being thrust into an uncomfortable position by Byfuglien at the start of the season, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff is now seeking to salvage a return.
Sources say suitors have been in regular contact with Cheveldayoff over the last weeks about Byfuglien’s future, but talks have only intensified in recent days leading up to the NHL’s Feb. 24 trade deadline.
There is no guarantee that Byfuglien will be dealt – in part because of the fact that sources say he remains a long shot to return to the ice this season – but Big Buff’s mere potential impact warrants his debut at No. 10 on the latest TSN Trade Bait board.
Why would a team be interested in Byfuglien now?
If a team believes they could successfully lure him back to the rink, Byfuglien’s once massive $7.6 million salary cap hit has dwindled down to just a prorated $1.84 million now with only 45 days left in the regular season.

from Cathal Kelly of the Globe and Mail,
Maybe the Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t poorly coached, under-motivated or not yet fully “processed.”
Maybe the Leafs are just bad.
Because once you strip away the stats and expectations, they look bad. For short bursts – for instance, giving up a Keystone Kops goal immediately after blowing a 5-on-3 advantage – they look like they’ve pooled their money and bet against themselves.
If you didn’t come into Leafs games knowing who is supposed to be good and who isn’t, you might think 36-year-old journeyman Jason Spezza is the star of the roster. Because he’s often the only one who looks like he is a) trying and b) also using his brain while doing so.

The problem is now Ferraro realistically needs to fill Dillon's slot... And then we are back to needing help for the bottom pair, or signing a veteran which pulls money from our holes in net or in forward. I still maintain we need a top line wing + second line wing at a minimum. Plus a mid pair defenseman now (which would still be light going into a playoff run) and a goalie. Lots of spots and no way to make that math work with EK65, Pickles and Burns all sucking down 25million.

Its always someone else's fault that his players get called for cheap shots. I’d take a break from the Sharks if they hired that ass hat.

It would replace the grit lost by Dillon. But I don't know what his cap hit would be next year(if its the full 7.6m). Also not know... How would Kane feel about it.

Nathan Gerbe lays a huge open-ice body check on Claude Giroux, and when Travis Sanheim comes in to defend the captain, Gerbe wrestles him to the ice.
