The fact that some of the fan boys are broken up about Patty leaving is a sad reflection on our fan base. I'm more ok with him taking a 3 month run in Pittsburgh and crawling back in the summer (or retiring). This isn't nearly the same as him being forced out in a summer where he could have made his final actual push with the team before DW completely fucked the pooch.

Funny seeing Kevin Kurz’s disapproval of the Goodrow trade. And allow me to throw a match onto the gasoline: is Marleau’s willingness to move (twice) show that he is more prepared and driven to win than Thornton who by all accounts chose to stay put on a team going nowhere in a comfortable environment than chase a cup? Thornton didn't want to play second fiddle to anyone else & he knows he's got DW wrapped around his finger. DW will give Thornton a 2 year deal in the off season watch & see. This team will still be crap.

I watch a lot of Tampa games. I think Goodrow will fit in good there. Best wishes to him. IMO, he's the Sharks MVP this season.

I saw on a recent article that gave trade grades for this year's trade deadline, Tan Man got an A+ Tampa got a D for the Barclay Goodrow trade. I'm not sure we can expect anything better than what we already had in Goodrow given where that pick will end up, But a Effing first round pick for him is outstanding. I wish I was a fly on the wall in Wilson's office to hear what he was trying to get for Thornton?

Unless he went to DW and requested a trade... How does this make any sense? It makes sense because Goodrow is at best a 4C on a contending team. They have options for replacement in house (True, Suomela). Also does keeping Goodrow for the rest of this season and next, even at a good price tag, really move the needle for the Sharks? They were bad with him having a career year (and five years from now this might very well still be his career year) and missing him probably doesn’t change the outlook of next season. He was a good pro and earned his keep but he is not difference maker and he was worth way more to other teams than he likely would’ve been to SJ this time next year. A first rounder for him is a coup for Wilson.

It really doesn't matter today what the Sharks got for Marleau or Goodrow in draft picks
The real thing is if the Sharks can make the right picks to improve this team in the future. And that's the scary part

But DW JR will probably pick some player no one has ever heard of & it will be another waste of a pick

Hey DW. You got rid of two guys that were playing at or above expectations. You traded away Patty. What is a fair expectation for next season?

I think Goodrow was one of the few bright spots on the Sharks this year...but a 1st rounder? Amazing job by DW.

Plus it makes the draft more interesting for us.

Don't forget Dougie Jr is running the scouting Dept so you know that this pick with be a player we never heard of & a bust What is his record with picks? Tim Burke was in that position up until a couple years ago. Sharks drafting hasn’t been great but it is all a gamble come draft day. Every team has some bad picks and busts and every team has some gems.

Tim Burke was in that position up until a couple years ago. Sharks drafting hasn’t been great but it is all a gamble come draft day. Every team has some bad picks and busts and every team has some gems. The Sharks hit a home run with Pavs and Clowe. The Hertl draft was a home run until Brown took out his knee on a deliberate dirty hit. They have picked up role guys like Manny Malhotra in free agency. The Thorton deal was a home run. The Burns deal was very good. They have put a competitive team on the ice for a very long time. You have to give them credit for that. Its been a fun ride but this team now needs to be rebuilt. The one constant has been poor goalie selections.
