NEW YORK (March 8, 2020) – Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for cross-checking Dallas Stars forward Corey Perry during NHL Game No. 1051 in Dallas on Saturday, March 7, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 15:13 of the second period. Josi was assessed a minor penalty for high-sticking.
The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

I don’t understand how Jack Edwards is still employable. It’s not just being a homer at this point, he’s just straight up unprofessional.

From Elliot Freidman
17. I was surprised there were no changes to the emergency goalie system. Don’t think it was unanimous, but majority rules. The best argument made for keeping it as is was a good one: that these are the people who regularly face NHL shooters in practice. (The day after David Ayres and Carolina beat the Maple Leafs, he was on the ice with them.) Senior Vice-President of Hockey Operations Kris King pointed out that some teams — when on the road — will borrow the home city’s EBUG for practices if they want to give one of their regular guys a breather. Another thing we learned: the league informed the Hurricanes that, if Ayers got hurt, Rod Brind’Amour had two choices. He could put another player in goal, or he could go with six skaters.
That's a pretty good arguement to keep the EBUG

One more
31. Let’s talk about Nashville. When the Predators came to life, many of us Canadian hockey snobs were like, “Seriously, WTF?” Then, as reporters began travelling there, word seeped out. “You’ve got to see this place.” “It’s one of the best road trips in sports.” I laughed at one print reporter saying the hockey writers at his paper fought over who got to go there. The music and the bars are obviously a big part of that, but it’s a fun place with a lot to do whether single or family-oriented. The 2017 Stanley Cup Final was a game-changer for the league. Everyone got exposed to how Nashville made its unique culture a big part of the Predators’ identity, and we all saw the massive crowds outside Bridgestone Arena for the open-air concerts. All the best to the people of that great city and hockey success story.

San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture was struck in the side of the head by a puck in the first period of Sunday's 4-3 home loss to the Colorado Avalanche and did not return.
Timo Meier, Couture's teammate, fired a shot that changed direction when it hit Colorado forward J.T. Compher's stick before making contact with Couture. The forward played in only five shifts, with 4:07 of ice time, before the injury.
In his postgame availability, Sharks coach Bob Boughner said the decision to keep Couture out of the game was precautionary and that the two-time All-Star went through the league's concussion protocol.
"I don't think it's anything serious," he said. "I think he's going to be fine."
Boughner was optimistic that Couture could play on Wednesday at Chicago.
It has been an injury-plagued season for Couture, who missed 17 games from Jan. 9 to Feb. 23 after suffering an ankle fracture against the St. Louis Blues on Jan. 7. Despite the absences, Couture, 30, still has 16 goals and 29 points this season, his 11th in San Jose.

The Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, has issued a recommendation that no indoor event move forward with spectators other than athletes, parents and those essential to the game, due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will not be following these recommendations, citing good arena ventilation.

The Kings are playing very well down the stretch. Way to late for a run but not a team borderline teams wish to play. Just ask the Avs and speaking of the Avs another injury.
Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon did not return after sustaining a lower-body injury in the second period. Coach Jared Bednar did not know the extent of the injury or when it happened.
''He leaves the game, I'm concerned right away,'' Bednar said. ''I know that he wasn't good enough to come back in the game tonight, so, yeah, I'd say that is concerning.''

With the Kings playing well, its pretty clear the Sharks are the worst NHL team out there after losing to Ottawa at home recently. At this point the Wings are so bad I don’t consider them NHL level.

Definitely that 3rd Choice there! While I agree with you philosophically, the games matter to teams fighting for playoff spots/position so they have to be played somewhere.
