This is great. I just made a run to the store. Got mostly what I planned for to at least last us 2 weeks. However TP and Eggs were completely out (and flour - though I at least still have enough for a couple loaves and likely 1-2 lbs of pasta). Going to be nuts if we need to start extending this for more than 4 weeks. My office finally began telling all folks that can do their job remotely to stay home. Not before we had 2 lunches catered last week with the whole building crammed into a room. And multiple folks coughing... At this stage I'm about 80% sure I'll get this thing in the coming week or so just given the office situation for the last couple weeks. Until then, though, I got about 11 beers, 1 bottle tequila, 2 bottles wine, some amaro and a shot or so left of scotch. And some prosecco for JB. I think we are ready to be home bodies. Unless the supply line somehow gets majorly affected or we are forced to stay indoors, I'm not particularly concerned with stocking up on stuff. Can always run out to the store while everyone else is still living off everything they bought this week. Yeah. The annoying thing is simply that people are now over buying which does fuck up the supply chain. Still no TP - tried 2 places today and we are going to be out in another day. Otherwise I'm trying to buy for about 2 weeks at a time. Basically that's my normal foot print plus I got a few cans and veggies that will last longer than 1 week. What's hilarious is most of the shit I normally buy isn't that effected since it's the stuff you use to make things from scratch. Or the not shit pasta..

Went to the store here today...like nothing is happening. Nothing out of stock except hand sanitizer. No line like usual, everyone polite and relaxed. Assume it will change when the virus comes to our county. Feels good to be out in the country, well stocked...and armed. I’m far more concerned about the economic impacts for folks at this point. Seems like the government is finally getting it together so hopefully that will slow down the spread rate. Headed to Daytona Beach at O’dark thirty to move my son out of his dorm as his school decided to close. I hope y’all and your friends/family are safe. For my area I think the tipping point is that a couple companies here seem impacted (HQ sized locations) and once policy is trickling out to work from home + Trump's speech the other day finally admitting there is cause for concern people really turned the corner. Last weekend was completely normal at the store. And I agree. Just think of the small businesses that are now losing business. Bars, restaurants etc.

Trump did one thing right. Very early shut down travel to and from China. Other than that he downplayed the risk and only now seems aware of how serious this is. The mega corps will survive. The companies that were already only marginally profitable and just hanging on will fail. Lots of small business that depend on sports and other large gatherings will also fail.
American Airlines did a huge stock buy back last year. I bet they wish they had the cash now. I don't think the fed will allow them to fail but small business will not be so fortunate.

All the schools are closing. Time to take the kids on vacation First, the online instruction has been promised. Second, there's nowhere to go.
In fact we're in a bigger shit here, as much as we could without getting sick. It's likely we shouldn't be selling the house now as we planned. It's also likely we shouldn't go to Columbus as we planned at the start of April to buy the house there. And on top of that, my parents were supposed to arrive on 3/24 from Israel, and we're cancelling it as well. So all plans turn into one big pile of ashes.
Yeah the shitshow continues. hunker down this is not close to being over.

When I came to the store, it was out of sanitizers, toilet paper and pasta. Already during my time there toilet paper and pasta was restocked. People who try to compare it to the USSR stores haven't ever seen a USSR store.
In the Russian deli some people were buying ham/bologna/salamis, sprats and egg noodles by dozens... Stay safe out there.
Where is the Russian deli?

And the sad thing is it seems most corporations (not Apple/Google, but a lot of the smaller corps) took the president's lead. We banned travel to China shortly prior to the federal ban. But literally up to this past Wednesday the plan was to keep working, reduce all but mandatory travel domestically, and don't fear monger (but do stay home if you are sick). So effectively people were still coming in with colds because they felt they could keep working like normal.

It's more Fuck you media again and again. If he didn't order it but only suggested or called for it, it's fine.
Meanwhile Starbucks announced it's not open for dine-in anymore. Only online orders or walkin-takeouts. Will save them helluva money.

So public opinion, what do you all think we should do?
Wife and I have booked Kauai for end of April for 5 days. We have the insurance on the trip and can cancel up to 24 hours before flight takes off.
So should we ride it out and see where things stand in a month? Or do we cancel the trip way before?
Another trip will be end of May to Vegas. I will cancel that one if WSOP cancels their events (which it might be headed that way). Or do scoff and just f-it, go anyway even if that event is cancelled?
fire away yo!

I have not heard if they are short on supplies yet as everything comes in via boat or air. You can also check trip adviser reviews as the date gets close to see if it is still all good there. This is a great place to be (this Island is quiet anyway) with great non crowded beaches. What may happen though is Hawaii may decide to quarantine and you wont be able to go anyway.

MGM and a few other casinos are closing today so I would wait that one out too

I personally would cancel, but I also have quite a few friends who are in the higher risk categories (diabetes, autoimmune disorders). If you don’t have a lot of those people in your regular life and you aren’t in the high risk groups then go and expect you will probably be a carrier of SARS-CoV-2. Then again, I also am about 15 miles from where the US shit show began. The first reported case was hospitalized about 10 miles from my house and the giant cluster was about 15 miles from my house. Washington did just close everything by governor’s order. TRO

That's what I am figuring on all your responses thus far, as I told my wife just let it play out and see where we are in April since we still have time by then.
Not sure if I should book the couples massage in Kauai, ya know?! Anyway again all stuff I can do later if the ban gets lifted.
She will be 40 and I just turned 47. Her thing is that yes she does have an auto-immune but it's hashimoto's so thyroid related. But she takes meds for that.
so i think we still just play by ear before a last minute decision.
Plus I have the lovely Kidney stone surgery next week and they just confirmed no cancellation as of yet.

I had a week long trip to the Kentucky Bourbon trail next week and didn’t cancel...they all canceled on me though, so you may not end up having a choice
