Yeah, our golf courses are all open. The boys and I found a disc golf course open in a county park and had fun doing that. I suspect it’s a state by state thing. Parks are closed around here. I’m so bad at it and yet I enjoy any of golf, disc golf and foot golf TRO I’m not very good at either game but I like to play both. Also, if you walk a regular golf course its actually pretty good exercise...especially if you hit the ball in zig zag pattern sometimes like I do

And there’s definitely a good work out in strapping an unwieldy 10-15 pound bag to your back and walking 4-5 miles. It is something I do wish had survived the closures around here. TRO

Everyone goes left/right in the Military If we’re going to dissect my more recent golf swing, let’s go full bore and I will tell you what i last hit with. The woods were all standard setup (length and swing arc) with about a D-2 swing weight. The irons however were a half inch long, two degrees upright and about a D-5 swing weight. Now, apart from being all wrong for my swing, I was probably overcompensating with too much of a forward press on the irons (because I was hitting high and right flares indicating my hands were too slow through the zone) and translated that to too much of a forward press on the woods which would cause my hands to be through the zone too fast because of the lighter swing weight causing the occasional snap hook. The takeaway of course is that it is all the fault of the equipment and never my fault. Just like every golfer ever I’m thinking when I’m back on my normal set things will go a lot better for my game. At least my flat stick saved me quite a few times about 5 weeks ago. Saved quite a few bogeys rolling in 10-12 foot putts. TRO

I have not only never played golf in my life, I never held a golf club in my hands or been to a course.
Except for the boomers' minigolf.

When I lost my leg in 2003 I figured I would still be able to play but when I finally got on a golf course it was so hard climbing up and down the tee boxes and trying to get out of a sand trap was near impossible. Oh well

Not too many courses have them but I think they are one of the places which does. TRO

Not sure if I can wait til the end of April for this social distancing to end. I think I might have to let the wife back in, the dishes are starting to pile up and I'm starting to run out of clean clothes.

The mrs. works in a nursing home (HR) and was deemed an essential worker. I WFH at least four days out of five regularly.
So for us it's more like an extended school break.

RIP dear woman:
A 90-year-old coroanvirus patient has died in Belgium after selflessly refusing a ventilator and instructing doctors to 'keep this for the younger' patients.
Suzanne Hoylaerts from Binkom, near Lubbeek, was hospitalised on March 20 when her condition rapidly deteriorated after contracting COVID-19.
It comes amid a global shortage of ventilators during the coronavirus pandemic, a key piece of equipment in the battle against the respiratory disease. Hoylaerts sought medical attention after suffering from a lack of appetite and shortness of breath. She was admitted to hospital where she tested positive for the virus and was placed in isolation, meaning her daughter was unable to visit. She reportedly told doctors at the hospital: 'I don't want to use artificial respiration. Save it for younger patients. I already had a good life.'
Hoylaerts passed away two days after she was hospitalised, on March 22.
Her distraught daughter Judith told Dutch newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws: 'I can't say goodbye to her, and I don't even have a chance to attend her funeral.'

Who didn't see this coming
During the first week of sheltering in place, Bay Area residents drank more alcohol than usual — 42% more than usual, in fact, according to data from BACtrack, a San Francisco company that produces smartphone-connected breathalyzer devices.
The idea for the study came from people’s anecdotal impressions that drinking was up, said BACtrack CEO Keith Nothacker. “We said, let’s go check the data. Sure enough, drinking had exploded post-shelter-in-place.”

TRO What are you looking for Right now, nothing. It would be a lot easier to get a bottle of Woodinville Whiskey’s vodka to my brother. I do intend to get another bottle of Charbay R5 at some point but I have many other whiskeys to drink before then TRO

YO PEEPS!
my weekly check in from the actual office.
so much shit on my desk to do!
then I have to brave the stores later today.
At least I have a mask (non n95) and gloves. Plus plastic bags and paper ones since now they are saying the cloth ones that we were forced to get can contain germs! (even though we wash ours!)
I can totally see the switch to plastic and paper again!

We all want what we cant have? A Caucasian (the one from the mountains) toast: My grandfather used to say: I want to buy a house, but I can't. I can buy a goat, but I don't want to. Let's drink to our desires being in line with our abilities!
