We took my Dad there a few years ago and while he talked to the volunteers on the ship my Brother, Nephew and I climbed down the stairs into the engine room. Went by ourselves, what a learning experience that was The volunteers must have been blown away. The ship historian came by my Dad's house one day and spent almost four hours with him talking about ship life and their ports of call during WW2. My Dad told some real hilarious stories on how they dealt with boredom being on the high seas. The Red Oak was a ammo ship so they had everything from small arms ammo up to 16 inch shells for the Battleships. It was just amazing how he could remember it like it was yesterday |

Imagine being on an ammo ship in WW2 hoping you dont take a hit, because if you do.............. Must have given your Dad much pride that the story of the ship was being preserved for generations to come. |

cjellika turned 14 today.
What a fizzle of a birthday. We're going to order online, and mrs. cjelli and her went to Dreger's for cake. But no going anywhere, no friends, nada. And no grandparents.

They just closed our state parks for camping...we had reservations next week. I don’t get that at all. Camping seems like a great thing to do now and actually promotes social distancing.

They just closed our state parks for camping...we had reservations next week. I don’t get that at all. Camping seems like a great thing to do now and actually promotes social distancing. They closed a lot of State parks here too. The east bay park district also shut down a bunch of park parking lots to keep people away I was hoping I would find a golf course open this weekend but couldn’t near me (I didn’t look too hard). There are a few things closing which on first glance don’t seem to make sense, or at least I had hoped wouldn’t close. TRO |

My wife got an e-mail yesterday from Collins lake that they had canceled our camping trip and all reservations thru April. It said that it might extend into May. It sucks, I was really looking forward to relaking on the lake fishing.  |
