There's a line to enter Safeway. They are controlling the occupancy. Took me about 20 minutes to get in. Personal bags are now prohibited, and everyone is handed out an alcohol sated paper towel with the cart.
Still no paper towels, no sanitizer, no isopropyl alcohol, no peroxide, no toilet paper. Wisps of napkins, minimal supply of eggs, no garlic, no flour.
1st world problem: no Nori wraps to make sushi at home.

Even at the worst state three weeks ago the assortment was better than in twenty 1987 Soviet grocery shops combined.

Agree...but if it starts happening, or there are power issues...then the feces will really hit the fan.

There is an all hands meeting for REI employees this AM. Does not sound good. Two weeks ago many locations closed and some people were allowed to come in to process shipments. Dont know if that was all stores or not.

My brother before he moved to Humboldt for College and then eventually Oregon used to work at the one in Saratoga, so i'm pretty sure he might glad he isn't in this situation. but his is worse now, since he works part construction and restaurant. And we all know restaurants ain't happening. But he says everything is still good but we all feel bad for those that work in that business and others that are retail as well. Here's hoping normalcy happens soon!

She does not need the job so she took a leave anyway.

Are you shelter in place there? More or less. I can leave my house but there's nothing open. Our shop is closed but there's more complications to it, it's a small family business so it just doesn't make sense to stay open. Think this is day nine without work for me and I don't know when it will end.

I liked this place, sorry to see it go And this is a bummer. That whole road has turned into a silicon valley clusterfuck. Another historic establishment down the tube and sure to be bulldozed for more modern drab.

This is day 15 or 16 for me, my last work day was the 16th when they shut down SF. really have no clue when they'll let us back in to start building again and what work will be like in the near future. Luckily the wife and I have made good money decisions so we will be fine, house is paid for just have car and truck payment and just the utilities to really worry about. But there are a lot of guys that I worked with that were just living paycheck to paycheck.

Paid some bills yesterday and I was wondering why I had so much money in my checking account. Then I realized I've been sitting home the last three weeks and not going out to eat or the bars every night. I miss the night life 😭😭😭

I normally work in an office with about 25 people in it. The last two weeks we have averaged 2-3 per day with most everyone working from home. The simultaneous joys and pains of being a chemist. TRO
