Checking in after a long hiatus.
Had to take a Covid test today with possible signs of pneumonia in the chest Xray.

I am self-quarantining at home. Even from my wife. My job is in an area considered essential so I was out and working until Monday when a scratchy throat became a cough. I am feeling good just low energy and taking meds now. Will be a long wait for test results (anywhere from 2 to 7 days).

Also, things in general tend to take a little longer down here. Not complaining, I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate the “slowness” of things here

I'm still waiting for this shit to calm down so I can head to Texas.

He’s wrong. He can have a different point of view all he wants but he’s wrong. He doesn’t understand how scientific data works and doesn’t understand what modeling is used for. He has also been accused of cherry-picking data to further an argument he has. That said, he appears to be a very accomplished fiction writer, if you’re into spy novels. TRO As stated a different point of view. I am SIP until further notice. I could use a good spy novel. Anyone have anything good for Netflix or Amazon Prime viewing? I have been watching Ozark/Goliath/Fargo/The Sinner (recent season sucked)/Vikings/Banshee/Jack Ryan I know Westworld is on HBO but it's pretty good, really need to pay attention though. Not sure what it's on but American Horror Story is really good. I've heard Murder Mountain is good.

Hang in there and while it sucks it would be good to try to keep yourself holed up in a spare bedroom. I can't imagine having to do that but for the sake of your wife. I saw your post about running the 5k just a couple months ago - honestly it's great you were doing those runs as the benefit to your lungs really can't be overstated from getting tha cardio in. Get tons of fluides (non-alcoholic, though it pains me to say).

Not complaining, I’ve come to enjoy and appreciate the “slowness” of things here The one thing that bugs the crap out of me though is the really bitchy service workers. Not all - some are full on southern charm. But there seems to be more of the type that are just pissed to be working / serving you and not afraid to make you aware of it. This is speaking before the COVID stuff. Obviously now I can fully understand they are at their wits end with stupid people. Other than that we are actually loving the spring and seeing all the woods really come back to life. Took a long drive into the country side 2 weeks ago, the Alfa is officially broken in and holy fuck does it move when you really (really) floor it. I peeled out from a stop sign and hit 70 in 3rd gear within moments. I continue coming back to a thought I had while car shopping in AZ - I can spend all the money I have and I'll still be driving the car on 100% straight and suburban roads. No fun at all in the valley of the sun for a driver. Whereas there are miles and miles of curvy roads down south to enjoy (and scenery - rolling fields, woods, lakes).

It's good but I find it a bit hard to focus on certain parts of the plot - I hear it picks up the deeper it goes. Watchmen (also HBO) was really really well done. Surprisingly so. I also had fun with that McMillions show that documented the scams being run on McDonald's monopoly game. If you get HBO Now it's like 15 bucks a month and you also unlock all of their back content. I've been running through Treme and really liking it (same guy that did the Wire / the Deuce). Speaking of which - the Deuce was phenomenal as well.

TJs work at Castro Valley has been fun, but now placed into a different level with this Corona stuff. I’ve seen the best and worst from the shopping public.
Yesterday two Alameda County Sheriffs came in to make sure we have shields up at the registers and markers on the floor to distance wait lines and elsewhere. They can give you a $60 ‘non-distancing’ ticket to shoppers if they see a violation. Now takes 20 minute (ave.) wait in line to get in. We monitor only 30 shoppers in store at a time. People generally nervous, buying tons of food ($300 checkouts are normal). Not hoarding, everyone has kids home and no restaurant options for now. Moms with kids suddenly home from school are most on edge. Supply chain still good, we can stock up empty shelves every night so far. Old people get special preference. All workers wearing masks, for shoppers still optional but that could change within a week..

Very impressed with TJs as an org. Everyone got a raise till May 30th for a ‘hazards’ we are facing. I feel safe and get to cheer people up all day. Lady told me yesterday I was the first person she’d talked with in two weeks besides her shelter family. Wow. Also employees now get 20% off all groceries (usually 10%) till May 30th..

I’m happy to hear you’re enjoying Spring! I haven’t seen any bad attitude/rudeness from service folks, or others, here...wonder if its a big city thing? There’s less then 150k people in the entire county we live in...like the areas you’re describing on your drive The largest city is less than 30k.

The population density per square mile where you’re at is about 1,250...its 150 where I live...thats a big difference and results in some quality “country charm” I was wrong on the population of my county, its 160k, not 150k like I said earlier. I like Raleigh overall though and its way better than most big cities. I’d rather be there than anywhere out West

And what's also nice is there are 3 cities here - each with a different vibe. The funniest part though is the utter lack of southern accents here. Like - you come across them occasionally. But it's probably 10% of the total population. Tons of transplants.

Santa Cruz has been in the news all week that the town would be shutdown this weekend. Then these idiots from my hometown showed up last night Santa Cruz Police 4 hrs · 7 x $1000 = One Expensive Hang Out Last night, seven visitors from Fremont were hanging out at 7-11 on Ocean Street. Not smart. Everyone should know by now that this is not the time to meetup and party. Officers cited seven $1000 tickets for Shelter In Place Violations to help these guys remember their time in Santa Cruz. If you are not from Santa Cruz and you put our community at risk, you will get a ticket.

Bay Area assholes in Santa Cruz really grind my gears. One of the final parties I went to down there I had to kick a bunch of assholes from San Jose out. I literally told them they give SJ a bad name acting like dick heads down there (I think they had thrown a punch at someone - possibly a girl). Then they threw a rock through a window...
Fucking dill weeds.
