Woah. no fan of Gavin / current Calif politics either, but to give up this climate, area, coastline for October slushys in your driveway & 190 days of heavy clouds, man that's ALOT. but your'e a smart stubborn guy so you'll make it work. always Sharks over Bluejackets, yes? Cloudiest US cities

CJ has children, fairly young children if I remember correctly. He’s very smart to get them off the sinking ship California asap. My dad was dying when we were leaving California. Many in my family were mad at me for moving my family away (some still are) but not my dad. One of the last things he said to me...”a man is ultimately responsible for his family and you getting your kids out of California is best for them. I’m proud of you for having the courage to leave...I wish I’d done the same for my kids.” And of course, Shark over Jackets

Thanks! We have an excellent comparison: a house identical to ours just got sold, but we have better location/condition.

And the way Hasso Plattner and Doug Wilson are handling the Sharks, not so sure at all.

My older son moved to Denver. He has no regrets. We miss him but this is about his life not ours. We will see him a few times a year. Denver seems like a fun town for a young person. Whats your younger boy up to these days? Its a bit of a crazy story. He was delivering fine craft beer to make ends meet. Pulls up to a Charles Swab facility to make a delivery. He decides to make an impression and a few weeks later the guy forwards his resume to some people. He gets a call and several interviews later landed the job. They pay him while get gets his series 6 and 86 license.

Kids went with you? I'm a native Californian, also my wife; it would take a LOT to get us to move out of state. to me (us) California is the most geographically beautiful state in the nation. Got friends/family that live in Oregon, Washington, Idaho.. I did a ton of domestic business travel for 20 years and THIS is still the spot, IMO. Lived in cold climates a few years in my youth and think I got that out of my system. It will absolutely be more expensive to live Cali in retirement, but we might likely make that choice.

Love this story!

I’m a native Californian also (born in San Jose hospital) and I absolutely agree about how beautiful California is. Thats just not very high on our list of where to live. Financial security, quality services for low taxes and schools that don’t send my kids to the office for hate speech for saying illegal immigration is wrong are all higher on the list. Another driving force for the decision is that we want our boys to be able to buy a home with a little land someday. I also think the geography is nice here and we like the sub-tropical climate. Its green all year and I like the open spaces versus the asphalt jungle of the Bay Area. The coast/coastal islands here are nice and you can swim in the ocean without freezing your balls off I agree about the cold climate. I love Ohio and we spend time there every year, but I could never live there. We went up once in late January and learned our lesson. We only go in Summer/Fall now. One of the many great things about America is its variety of geography and climate...theres something for everyone!
