Early thoughts on round one. Ovi is a liability. He was responsible for more than a few goals against. He can’t play against elite talent anymore. The Leafs are a mess. MM and coach should both be gone. Who knew the Oilers could win a game 1-0. Avs can flip a switch. Vancouver does not care who is in net. Florida is as good as advertised. New guys taking over in Dalls. Wyatt is good!
No assessment on the Rangers yet because Caps were that bad.

They have Bertuzzi and Domi, with a pedigree that is supposed to be enough for four Marchands. |

Yeah, but someone manages that team including the four prima donnas. They have Bertuzzi and Domi, with a pedigree that is supposed to be enough for four Marchands. It doesn’t matter who they have around them. Those four don’t have an ounce of what it what takes. I hate Marchand but his willingness to compete, be hard to play against, do the grimy things you need to do to win, step up when the going gets tough is something Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Tavares have never shown in Toronto and it’s about them showing it. It’s never gonna be about having another guy or two who can bring for all of them. They’re the leadership, they’re heartbeat, and right now they’re on life support because when they bow out (not if) it’s curtains for them as a group. |
