Only 9 minutes I cancelled the AT&T in June. The instructions for sending equipment back only involved the AT&T DSL router. All the direcTV equipment is sitting in the garage, uncalled for. Their business processes didn't merge well.

If I lived within 10 miles of a UPS or fed ex office I could take the equipment there and they would pack it up and ship it at no charge. If not they would send me the boxes. I took the office drop off option

It should be interesting seeing what equipment they want back

Fugazi, is Ardenwood Historic Farm a place worth going on a Sunday noon with kids (9 and 13)? Yes. You can look at their calendar of events on their website. Also this weekend is the arts and wine festival in Fremont. Lots to do there with the kids. They have a website too

Maybe because I come from Israel...

Fugazi, is Ardenwood Historic Farm a place worth going on a Sunday noon with kids (9 and 13)? We took our kids there years ago they liked it. Also the steam trains at Tilden Park are great but your kids may already be a bit old for that one. Redwood Regional Park in Oakland is a great place for hiking at their age. Monarch butterflies in Pacific Grove is also fun but you need to check the season.

Used to take my daughter there. It was fun

Cancelled everything with att today. When i told them they've been a disaster since they bout direct tv the woman said she understands. It went much easier than I thought. Only 9 minutes I canceled yesterday too. After asking the guy if this discount he was quoting me meant a new contract he said no. Next morning, I have an email saying 24 month contract with no end date listed. I went in with Fury and eventually the woman told me - "sir, I'm trying to cancel your account but just let me speak." I didn't take kindly to her listing a 40 dollar cancelation charge when I had $72 of credit due to my service being out now for 2.5 weeks. Now to dump their shit off at UPS.

I got the same email when i got the $5 credit last week but when I cancelled yesterday she didn't mention the two year extension. It'll be interesting to see if they send me a cancellation bill

Their ship is sinking just like Spectrum who thought they would get new clients since they hoarded the Doyer games! And now they are like "OH FUCK! WE FUCKED UP!" So with ATT/DTV/U-verse merger it's all been shits and gravy! This is exactly it! We never had an issue with U-verse until they bought Direct TV and now suddenly it is a shit show and they suggest we move to Direct TV to solve the issues. They don't understand we left Direct TV to switch to Uverse. We have had the same issue as well. We had Dish (I believe they were an ATT partner at one time), but the ATT folks suckered my dad into u-verse for a unified bill. Now they have been trying to sucker him into Direct TV. We are looking at our options. I have offered about ten times to take on the cord cutting project for him, but he isn't convinced yet.

I didn't care. It was the last straw.

Wife called Comcast because she made a mistake paying the bill, 20 minuets later a service guy will be out next week with new modem for faster internet, a new cable box for even more channels, and the kicker is our bill is 40 bucks cheaper a month. Not sure what she promised him/her but I think I'm ok with it. LOL

So I took cjelliko (cjellika decided to stay home) to Ardenwood Farm and we had a great time. The tour was great. I remembered similar tours I had in Modesto and here in the Muir ranch in Martinez, as well as in the O'Neill's mansion above Danville. These houses smell of making America great.
Then we went to the California Billiards in Fremont where we had lunch, and my son got the first taste of pool. Still needs to add 2-3 inches to feel comfortable.

My Grandmother was good friends with the Patterson family that owned the farm there. The Patterson's made their fortune running boats up and down the Bay and Delta in the 1800's hauling produce and supplies from the Bay Area up to Sacramento. My Cousin Doug Perry runs the farm there now but he's retiring after the pumpkin patch shuts down. My Grandfather used to ranch that farm in the 1940's till the mid 70's

Today another clueless soul decided to ignore my LinkedIn warning not to be contacted about recruitment and sent me what he obviously considered a competitive offer. About 50% of my current salary. The job is in San Francisco.
Usually I just report them as abusers and/or spammers, but I wanted to have fun this evening and said that working in the cloaca San Francisco is commands a 100% premium and countered with the quadruple of his offering. Before bonuses and stock options.

Before bonuses and stock options. Recruiter isn't clueless, he's just getting HUGE pressure from his boss to contact you and other techies on your professional tier. He knows the risk. You're a very hot commodity in the Bay Area so play that to your advantage without burning your current employer. Back when recruiters used to chase me, I'd be polite and say vague things like "you can't afford me.." "I'm working on a great project here for the next 2-3 years.." But I'd never totally shut them down because you want to hear what the offers are. Always always always look out for #1.
I've seen software engineers, top tier web designers get cars dropped off at their houses unannounced to tempt a signing with another for 70% more salary. I'd humbly suggest be loyal to your current company but don't ever turn off hearing other offers out there. Keep the LI warning up, but when some hot-shot blows through that stop sign; play a game with them rather than shutting them down completely.
