We are having a great thunder/lightning storm here right now; we timed 10 lightning flashes in 45 seconds, some straight down, some sideways across the sky and thunder to match...of course, the weather report says its not raining |

Just rolled into the Daytona Beach Hilton for the week to move my oldest into the dorm at college. Roughing it with a cold beer on the beach. Looks like a great town to spend four years of college.

What college is down there? JBs folks live in Ormond which is just up the road. The beaches down there are awesome. And you have a ton of marsh land and the river on the other side of the sand bar. |

Also, if you have free time, the lighthouse down there is a nice view of the coast and flat florida landscape.
There is a Rockefeller house up in Ormand that is a cool and fairly easy stop to make.
And the hotsprings inland (I think they are the blue springs) are a really cool trip. You can also take river tours of the St. Johns river.

He going to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Engineering school. You’re right about the beaches...we stayed in a VRBO on the beach in Isle of Palms, which I think is near Ormond, a few years back and really liked the area. Thanks for the other area tips also |

He going to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Engineering school. You’re right about the beaches...we stayed in a VRBO on the beach in Isle of Palms, which I think is near Ormond, a few years back and really liked the area. Thanks for the other area tips also The coast just goes on and on. Flat and smooth sand. Water is pretty warm too. |

So my wife had never seen Easy Rider and wanted to see it since Fonda died.
I said are you sure you want to see it? It's not all that's cracked up to be.
And she said sure. I said ok (in a sarcastic tone).
So we get to the end and she says, "Really?! It ends in a tragedy?!"
I said you know it was at the end of the 60's and Vietnam was a major topic so movies of the time always had weird endings if you will.
I got the sense she was like well that sucked.
Ah 60's movies. heh heh.

Terrible story in Fresno last night. A fire broke out at an apartment complex across the street from the campus. Last report I heard was that 14 units had burned. Thankfully there were no injuries. Imagine being a college student living across the street from the campus and the night before classes are to begin your apartment, with all of your possessions (books, laptops, clothes) are destroyed by a fire. Since there were no injuries hopefully they were able to at least get some of their stuff out before the fire hit their apartment.

Underrated 60's movie (well, 1970) was a spunky young Dustin Hoffman in 'Little Big Man'. told a great American west tale with, yea those 60's overtones. Epic on big screen tv and has a better ending. all filmed near Calgary. watch that one sometime. Faye Dunaway is a hottie in it! |
