Well fuck. Just got brought in and told I am being laid off by the firm I have worked for 13 years. At least I am getting 1 months severance but still a kick in the balls. That's shitty to hear man. Glad you got a severance and hope there are some other firms from which you can give those guys the finger.

Already have a few feelers out. Doubt I am out of work long at all.
Packed up my office and left them the pen holder and letter opener they gave me for my 5th and 10 year anniversary. Solid marble with my name engraved on them. Figured why keep them they obviously weren’t worth much to them.
They let 2 other people go. Including a 73 year old secretary thay had been there almost 40 years. They just happened to let people go who all got 4 weeks vacation a year. That is the only thing I will miss.

The firm brought in a new firm manager about 5 years ago who came from the Chukchansi Casino (which had been shut down by the Feds at the time). She has never run a law firm. She sees paralegals and legal secretaries as the same as maids in a hotel. Easily replaced.

Just got told we need to evacuate my boy from Daytona Beach by 3pm tomorrow...off to Florida I go! Be safe. One of the things about living in the South is hurricane season. Thanks...I’ll take hurricanes over earthquakes any day Usually get at least a weeks notice about big hurricanes...any injuries from that are your own fault. Got home with my boy late last night...the traffic out of Florida was a nightmare. Now they’re saying the storm has shifted and may end up hitting the Carolina’s. Sorry to hear about the lay off...hope it ends up working out better for you in the long run. B.S. that the company laid off an old lady. Curses on them!

Be safe and leave earlier than you think if you need to get out the way of the hurricane. Took me 10 hours from New Orleans to Baton Rouge evacuating for Ivan in 2004 (surprisingly, the evacuation in 2005 took less time - ~7 hours - and I went to Shreveport). TRO

TRO Thats good advice, thank you. We had always said we would live on/near the coast during the years before we moved. We finally settled about two hours (130 miles) inland. Mainly because the humidity is much worse on the coast, but now it looks like avoiding this hurricane was also a good reason...our governor just ordered the entire coast evacuated at noon today. I’m glad we got my boy out of Florida though and your right about the traffic. Worst I’ve ever experienced...even after 40 years driving in the Bay Area

Wow...are you still in the hospital...heal soon and I hope they got you on the good stuff I got home Saturday afternoon. Probably should've stayed another day for the pain management but the food would've killed me. Good stuff? Yeah, no such luck. I specifically requested Blanton's and got nothing of the sort.

Spent Labor day purchasing a little cabana pool spot at a nice local Scottsdale resort. Worth it. Even with the over priced gin.
106 never felt so good.

We went to Sonoma today - to the General Vallejo's house and the downtown Sonoma. I think it's the prettiest downtown we've seen so far in California.

Well, until late Friday night, I had a pretty good idea where my gall bladder was located. Now, I'd say it's whereabouts are unknown. Preferably, it's now incinerated or worst case, in a bio-hazard waste facility.

They insisted upon giving it to me despite my protestations. I had quite some arguments with the ER nurse (bitch!) Friday night. She had shown me very little interest in my well-being. After about, I don't know, 2 hours of unreal suffering (on top of the 2+ hours prior to getting to the ER) I was finally given Dilaudid. That's the best they'd do. I was thankful to get transferred to Motown in the wee hours of Friday morning. I didn't have to fight to get meds there. Surgery was supposed to happen at 8am. I think I was on the table around 10pm... I guess I was a low priority emergency.🤔

The problem is getting one of them to come to your room to talk to them I wasn't given any options are even asked about food. They did ask numerous questions repeatedly which, despite the constant typing on keyboards, answers apparently are never entered into the system. Given the bedside manner I got in the ER, maybe i was expecting a poor response from the kitchen staff...

They do everything they can to not give you pain meds. I was in the hospital for 7 days after a nine hour surgery. When I come out they say they’re giving me tylenol combined with advil for pain management. Of course, that didn’t work so a doctor tells me to “meditate” the pain away. That didn’t work either and after a blow up from my wife they gave me morphine...worked fantastic.

Healdsburg and Windsor are also great but its about an hour farther for you. I like them better because there's less tourists there. Healdsburg has Bear Republic brewery and Windsor has Russian River brewery, so those are added benefits

well Friday after work we come home and there is this puddle coming from the kitchen cabinet by our fridge.
So we were hoping the fridge went out (it's older and sucks since it's LG, when we got the house in June).
And nope water coming up slowly from the floor!
Short story it was a slab leak, and through Home Warranty and Homeowners insurance, we are getting it taken care of.
Now if we can only get our kitchen tiled since we have engineered hardwood floors in their!
Would be nice on our high price 1000 deductible!
So we will see what happens!
