Morphine is fucking useless. They insisted upon giving it to me despite my protestations. I had quite some arguments with the ER nurse (bitch!) Friday night. She had shown me very little interest in my well-being. After about, I don't know, 2 hours of unreal suffering (on top of the 2+ hours prior to getting to the ER) I was finally given Dilaudid. That's the best they'd do. I was thankful to get transferred to Motown in the wee hours of Friday morning. I didn't have to fight to get meds there. Surgery was supposed to happen at 8am. I think I was on the table around 10pm... I guess I was a low priority emergency.🤔 Morphine never worked when I got it. It caused more pain when I took it than if I just suffered Morphine doesn’t take away pain. It just gets you so stoned you don’t care about the pain.

I wonder if thats why it works for me...it doesn’t get me stoned. No opiates do, but they work great on my pain. My doctor told me once that I’m a rare individual because pain meds actually amp me out...not tired, loopy, etc. When my back or gut goes out and I need a pain pill (about twice a month), I’m up until 4am reading.

Thanks. Yeah, sucks is putting it mildly. I got home Saturday afternoon. Probably should've stayed another day for the pain management but the food would've killed me. Good stuff? Yeah, no such luck. I specifically requested Blanton's and got nothing of the sort. I was thinking more along the lines of morphine, dilaudid, etc Speaking of Blanton’s though (which is my favorite bourbon)...its the only thing I’ve found so far that is more expensive here than Cali 🤬 I heard wine is more expensive for worse quality as well. We are starting to seriously consider Carolina as our next stop and this is a huge concern (as are rednecks and flooding).

well Friday after work we come home and there is this puddle coming from the kitchen cabinet by our fridge. So we were hoping the fridge went out (it's older and sucks since it's LG, when we got the house in June). And nope water coming up slowly from the floor! Short story it was a slab leak, and through Home Warranty and Homeowners insurance, we are getting it taken care of. Now if we can only get our kitchen tiled since we have engineered hardwood floors in their! Would be nice on our high price 1000 deductible! So we will see what happens! Spoiler alert, the insurance company will only cover replacement for the very small hole that will be made to allow access to fix the leak. They won't cover outside of that damage. We are dealing with it now and its such a pain in the ass.

Is driving with high beams on on a crowded highway at 9pm a violation? Had two assholes blinding me, one on Dumbarton Br., another one on I-580.

We are starting to seriously consider Carolina as our next stop and this is a huge concern (as are rednecks and flooding). Wine: I came with a large supply of wine and also belong to a club so I haven’t bought any wine here. It seems to be about the same price, or a little less, at restaurants. The selection of big reds is not as good but you can find all the Merlot you want. I don’t drink white wine, so no info there. Flooding: No flood insurance needed at my place. The closer you are to the coast, more chance of flooding. Also, the humidity is much worse on the coast than inland. Rednecks: First, I’ll take a redneck/white trash over a gang banger or self-absorbed/entitlement millennial any day. That being said, the “redneck” myth is way overblown (as is the “bugs are way worse in the South” myth). I’ve seen two Rebel flags in the eight months I’ve lived here. One at a store in Alabama and one on a house on a remote country road here in South Carolina. However, at least where I live in the country...I very, very, rarely see a Prius with a Bernie sticker but theres a bunch of big trucks with “Support our Troops” stickers. If your looking for the Prius type lifestyle, I assume you can find that in the bigger cities in North Carolina...Charlotte, Raleigh, etc. If you ever want to check out the region where I live (I’m about 2/2.5 hours from Atlanta, Charlotte or Charleston. Pretty much half way between the ocean and the Smokey Mountains in Western/Central South Carolina) I will gladly pick you up at the airport, give you one of our guest rooms, a car to borrow while your here and show you around.

Yeah, I went back and checked my to do list for last weekend, this shit wasn't on the list. Thanks, as long as I don't move, cough, sneeze or hiccup, I feel pretty good! And please, no fucking laughing! Holy shit!!! The GF wanted to watch a movie and turned on Bad Boys 2. I almost threw her out! Watched John Wick kill everybody instead...

Most people give zero fucks about anybody else but themselves. I'm considering buying a new 4X4 truck, lifting the SOB about a foot and installing a fuck ton of lightbars with a supporting generator. Buy some welding goggles assholes! And sunscreen! Lots of SPF 1000!!!

When someone would come up on us on hwy 5 at 2 in the morning with the highbeams on we would light them up. It looked like it was daytime they were so bright. Saw one guy almost go into a ditch it startled him that much

From Marchment Fan on Facebook Active shooter was just taken down in the parking lot of my building. This is not the world I want to live in... This was at Bishop Ranch 8 in San Ramon SAN RAMON, CA — Police activity Wednesday in a parking lot at Bishop Drive and Executive Parkway was due to a suicide, police have confirmed. A distraught woman died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 11:30 a.m., said San Ramon PD Captain Denton Carlson. "Officers contacted an individual who expressed suicidal thoughts while conversing with their spouse. It is with great sadness we are informing you that shortly after being contacted by our officers, the person took their life via a self-inflicted gunshot," Carlson reported in a tweet. There were no other injuries reported. Portions of the parking lot directly between 4000 Executive Parkway and 2451 Bishop Drive will be closed much of Wednesday as police continue their investigation into this incident.

We are looking at the Raleigh area so would probably have a bit of the college and tech atmosphere, for better or worse. The reason I ask is we have definitely been a bit turned off by people in Arizona. Some of it is just a bit of midwestern culture coming down here (people are friendly at the surface but super conservative about social events). And there is the political aspect that I won't go into. We are kind of figuring Carolina would have more of the southern charm and being in the RTP area would be a nice mix with the student and tech hubs in that area. I'm also a red wine guy, not sure I can live off of Merlot alone but at least it seems like they can still get some stuff in. Weather is humid to me but it is good to hear it's not as bad inland. I'd personally prefer that Raleigh is closer to the coast but coming from Arizona it's at least nice to get green back in daily life, if not blue. I've gone out 2 times now for work and both trips have been pretty crazy with my working schedule. I'm hoping to get another chance soon (was supposed to be in 2 weeks but we're having delays) and to see a bit more. I did visit downtown Durham last time and they had some really good food out there. Otherwise it's mostly been strip malls or the local watering holes next to my hotel on the highway.

Just found out unemployment is going to pay less than half of my refular salary. It’s been a couple decades since I had to use it but i seem to recall it paying more than that percentage before. Hopefully I track down a new position before it gets to that.

Many Northeast and West coast transplants there. Its about two hours to the ocean from there. I know that might be farther than you want, like I thought also, but with the reduced humidity and no hurricane weather...its a worthwhile trade off. Its about a five hour drive from where I’m at. Another area I’d look at...Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina. One of the hottest job, housing, tech areas in the South. Has that younger, tech, city vibe but not a huge city like Raleigh and way more affordable.

Most of my coworkers live in that direction to avoid the cost and city issues of Raleigh itself. We're looking at that area as I have an office out there and my current project is based there. Need to talk to mmt boss about my general position and long term what the hell he wants our group to be doing (we are going through a acquisition that has been a mess, i got poached to help the mothership on a single program and now have no idea what I go back to when this is done). In the meantime, my fiance has finally been let go from her job in California she has kept this whole time. And the job market in Raleigh is actually way stronger for our skillset than Arizona. She already found something that would potentially pay her more than she made in California. So for us the specific area makes sense. Anecdotally I heard from someone that lived in Greensboro and hated it. 2 hours from the beach is better than the 5 or so we are now. But it still largely means a hotel room.

JB was also shocked at how little unemployment pays out. And at least out here they basically demand that you apply to multiple things a day and accept the first thing you get. So once you are at a certain level in your career it kind of fucks you into either applying to a bunch of stuff that is well under you or foregoing that payment all together.

Yeah I could go get a paralegal job that pays $10k less a year but I am trying to obviously avoid that. I got some severance pay as well so that covers the next couple of weeks. Takes a bit of the pressure off.
