Howdy hockey fans...curiosity question. As many of you know, I’m not a fan of the media in general. However, when I see the same information on CNN, FOX and the WSJ even I tend to believe it. All three of those sources had stories yesterday about food, primarily meat, shortages. I don’t see any of that here. In addition to the virus, we’ve had some significant weather issues here in the Deep South the past week. I went to Krogers today and got everything I wanted. The meat section was full. I got fresh seafood, beef, chicken and pork. In fact, I’m out back BBQ’ing some of it for lunch right now Besides all of you in the Bay Area, I know we have some folks in LA, Seattle, Ohio, Canada, etc. Are any of you seeing food shortages? Just wondering if this is more media driven fear or not. Also, if some are having food shortages, I’m not trying to be insensitive by asking, sincerely curious. Out here in the OC (So Cal) it depends on when you go. Most things are out towards the afternoon and weekends. Trader Joe's typically will have most things but meat products seem to lessen. Example frozen boneless chicken thighs were out last week but frozen boneless chicken breasts were plentiful. Eggs were ok too. Dry pasta seemed to be less too. Good luck!

One meat packing plant in Idaho (?) called Smithfields had to close because of the virus but that was the only one that I heard of. I know farmers are dumping milk down the drain because supplies are to high. This might be more of a media driven story to create more panic. They should really find out why all of these idiots are choking themselves with toilet paper. That's the real puzzle I think there's a logistic problem with toilet paper: it's hard to store a lot of extra supply, because of the volume. It looks like sanitizer/clorox/isopropyl alcohol shortage is due to regulations.

The Russian store had everything except the freshly frozen red caviar, but their assortment is different. Smart & Final had basically everything except for stuff that is not found anywhere.
Safeway is not handling it well. Every time I come there are problems with at least one isle: it was, in the last couple of weeks, alternating: dairy, esp. non-dairy substitutes, yoghurts, butter, sliced cheese; vegetables: no eggplants, cucumbers, radishes, zucchinis, fresh herbs, lettuce, berries; flour, beans, rice, oats; frozen fruits and veggies; fresh chicken and turkey. It's better than one month ago, but it's still a B-/B at best.
Sanitizer, yeast, toilet paper, isopropyl alcohol, paper towels and Lysol/Clorox/... general cleaning chemistry products ceased to exist.
Hydrogen peroxide is gone in Safeway, but is available in bucket loads at the CVS next door.
mrs. cjelli wants to hit TJ this weekend.

I posted earlier and it looks like it didn't post. Anyway at our Trader Joe's here in orange county (Lake Forest area, technically Laguna), they had no frozen boneless chicken thighs, but had breasts abound. Eggs are fine. Regular fresh meat section had stuff and some things were less than stocked. Pastas are always slim. but things were decent. Smart and Final is fully stocked. Our target is ok with somethings less than being filled in the frozen section. Dairy getting slim. And of course no one has Disinfectant Wipes, TP, Paper Towels or Napkins. However at Costco in Irvine, they do have everything except the wipe stuff.

Safeway is short on vegatables because a few people working in their wharehouse in Tracy came down with the virus. So they are trying to get that straightened out but they said it would take time

So they are trying to get that straightened out but they said it would take time Hmm...if one warehouse can disrupt Safeway’s supply, I wonder if Safeway has their own, independent, supply chain? Someone told me today that Krogers does have their own supply chain and thats why we’re not seeing shortages there. I have no clue either way but I did look them up and they’re by far the largest grocery chain in the USA...twice as large as the number two chain in the U.S., which is Albertsons/Safeway. I like Publix better than Krogers but they’re having some supply issues so we’ve been going to Krogers.

I have no idea if this is true, but a neighbor told me the supply issue with toilet paper was due to residential vs. commercial demand, manufacturing and packaging...and the SIP turned that upside down. Theres no toilet paper issue here anymore.

It's a cross between Costco and Safeway (used to be with elements of Grocery Outlet, too, but they sort of up-styled themselves a bit). The assortment is smaller than Safeway, bulk packaging is available for many items, prices are cheaper than Safeway on most of the items. No club prices, almost no store coupons, what you see is what you pay.
No butcher - all meats are prepackaged. Barely any seafood. Very limited choice of "upscale" brands and products.

There's also a shift in purchasing on TP. People are now staying home all day en masse. So people are using the TP they'd traditionally use at work while at home. And despite logic the markets are serviced by completely different products - so the home TP supply is now unable to keep up and the industrial one is over producing.

Amazon had a bucnh of commercial grade toilet paper for sale but it was the kind that fits in those big two roll dispensers. Pass on that, I would have toilet paper for 10 years

Happy Monday, and the only reason I know it's Monday is because the wife went to work! Lets see, we finished watching Westworld Friday night, went back and watched season 9 of American Horror Story Saturday, and started watching the shit show that is Tiger King. This shit has got to end, we were suppose to be camping this week out at Collins Lake.

Some shelves are empty but 90% are normal, nothing major either still all the produce and meat is around. I haven’t heard much anywhere else in Ontario or Canada, but I also haven’t seen tp at the store in months. Luckily I know one small shop that always has supply. Not what you know but who you know eh. It seems like most people have stopped panic buying. In reality that should’ve been one of the government’s first moves I reckon but what do I know. Other news I’m working for the first time since March 25 so yay for me.

My buddy had a cabin in Strawberry (just up the road from there) and we stayed there sometimes. My buddy had a fishing boat and we had the ski boat. We’d leave them at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s boat yard and go back and forth to the cabin. Fun times.

After the boys were done in scouts we bought a larger tent trailer with slide out but by ourselves its a lot of work setting up a tent trailer, so we bought a travel trailer about three years ago. Better then the tent trailer and way better then a tent.

During this shit show I got sucked into the you tube black hole. Stated watching Matt's off road recovery, he is out of Hurricane, Utah and he goes into sand hallow and all over southern Utah. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and watching him get people out is for some reason mildly relaxing. lol

When we camped my daughter was only 6 and she was miserable the whole time crying she wanted to go home to her mother. That might have been the main reason why I never did it again. Funny part is to this day she remembers that camping trip and she refuses to take her kids camping. She's turned into an air bnb type that will rent a cabin on a lake.
